Alec Doherty

Colorist

Alec has spent time in every aspect of the digital color world from short form to long form color. In prior employment with MTI Alec was commissioned as the pre-colorist and color assist on MTI's restoration projects. One of which being the Seinfeld HDR remaster. He spent time with Framestore and Company 3 coloring and assisting on VFX and animation heavy projects for TV shows, documentaries, commercials, and music videos. He finally rejoined MTI as a colorist to color the hit series East New York and help color a slew of other MTI shows side by side with their senior colorists. In his spare time he loves to practice analogue photography in a range of different formats. He is fascinated by alternative photographic processes and how they can be used to push the limits of what can be achieved in digital color correction.

Andrew Miller

VFX Supervisor

Andrew, like many before him, began his time at MTI managing the vault. Thereafter he trained as a technical assistant in the machine room and eventually worked his way up to being an editor. Skilled in Avid, Premiere, Flame, and After Effects, he has worked on episodic shows such as Outlander, Reprisal, For All Mankind, Ratched and Pose, as well as music videos and commercial projects. He is a very willing partner to the producers who have come to rely on Andrew for innovative solutions to the challenges that arise in the final stages of on-line. “I’m happiest when a producer brings a problematic shot into the bay and we work toward a fix that we both can be proud of. MTI has given me an opportunity to work with an array of tools that make my job both interesting and rewarding”.

Antoinette Perez

Producer

Producer Antoinette Perez brings years of experience with big budget motion pictures and visual effects to MTI Film. Her passion for Post Production and solid producing experience give her the strong and steady hand needed to steer a project to success. Antoinette started at MTI Film in 2013 and since then has produced many TV episodic titles: Longmire, The Affair, Bates Motel and Vida to name a few. Antoinette has moved from the Production Department into the Restoration and Remastering Department where she found a new and exciting passion for Restoration and Remastering. One of her favorite titles that she has worked on is the Remaster of the Seinfeld series for Netflix. Antoinette has also worked on several feature Restorations titles for Sony Pictures: The Celluloid Closet, Waterloo, White Nights, Modern Romance, Fun with Dick and Jane, I'll Do Anything, Buck and the Preacher, Cocktail Hour and Watermelon Man. Antoinette’s dedication to client satisfaction is just one more hallmark of the excellence in service she delivers each and every time.

Arthur Oganesyan joined our Los Angeles studio as a Dailies Colorist in 2022. Arthur's love for imagery and composition is the reason he started working in the film industry. Having begun his passion for color at companies like Encore and Company3, he continued to hone his craft working as a freelance colorist in recent years.

Barbara Marshall

As Executive Producer, Barbara brings a wealth of post production experience to her role in leading MTI Film's production department. As Associate Producer on many episodic shows she learned the business from the ground up. This experience combined with her stint as Director of Visual Effects and then Managing Director at Encore Hollywood gives Barbara a unique set of skills to lead her group in servicing MTI's clients at the highest level of excellence. As Director of Operations, Barry brings a great deal to the MTI success equation having been a tape operator, tape operations supervisor, and Operations Manager. But Barry delivers more. He has trained scores of young people to understand the proper disciplines of delivering quality work that is of the highest technical standard. Having been at the helm of MTI Film's Restoration Services department since its inception in 2006, and after spending 6 years as a Restoration Artist and Production Manager at Lowry Digital, Bridgid both supervised and contributed her hands-on talent as a seasoned Restoration Artist to MTI's many projects including Easy Rider, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Taxi Driver, Twelve O'clock High, Flight of the Phoenix, Lawrence of Arabia, and The Red Shoes. Proving that film restoration is indeed an art, Bridgid is responsible for training and supervising all of MTI's restoration artists. Passionate about the art, Bridgid's unwavering commitment to excellence has helped earn MTI Film the respect of the entire restoration community. She is also manages and supervise each restoration project from scanning to delivery. She cultivates relationships with vendors and and maintain the relationships with restoration clients that have come to trust us over the years.

Carl Braz

With over 20 years of experience, Carl has achieved success with well-established networks and post production companies such as Warner Brothers, Fox and Hulu to name but a few. He has worked on numerous titles including Ghosted, The Mick, Tyrant, The Mentalist and Friends, as well as independent documentaries and short films. His knowledge makes Carl a critical team member of MTI Film’s Dailies Department. Carl holds a Bachelor of Arts in TV/Film Broadcasting from California State University Northridge and an Associate in Arts in Speech Communication and Rhetoric from Santa Monica College. In addition, he has supplemented his knowledge with audio and editorial courses, which benefits his daily duties as a seasoned Colorist.

Having studied graphic design and photography, Carlos spent his first years in the industry at Lowry Digital as a Restoration Artist. Joining MTI Film in 2009, he served as a Senior Restoration Artist for nearly a decade. This year, Carlos made the jump to Dailies Colorist. His eye for detail in the restoration world has given him a keen eye for doing the critical work of dailies. “I’m very happy in this new role. Emmanuel Anumba

Emmanuel Anumba was born in Nigeria and moved to America when he was 4 years old. He has been In this beautiful state of California ever since. He Is currently working as the swing shift coordinator. In this role certain tasks are performed that help the Dailies operators in the syncing of the day's shoot, and helping producers with making work orders. One Task is Monitor emails and looking out for Visual Effects Pull requests from clients, and once received, making work orders for the dubbing room operator to perform his or her task. One has to make work orders for the dailies operators for their nightly logging . Other responsibilities are obtaining the Editors log, camera reports, sound reports, and call sheets for each show's shoot. He is also a point person between the show's transpo driver and the vault clerk, intaking drives, creating an asset, and logging said asset in and out. He also performs duties to ensure the clients are fed, and maintains the Bays.

Ernie has gained quite the skill sets and knowledge over his 12 years of working in Post Production. Having worked with some of the biggest colorists in music videos, commercial jobs and episodic jobs, Ernie has learned what it takes to thrive in a fast paced environment while developing a keen eye for color correction. This year, Ernie joined the MTI Color Restoration team, working alongside Jimmy Tom. "Working with Jimmy has really helped my growth. His extensive knowledge and experience as a colorst has really taught me a lot and he constantly pushes me to get better each and every day. Not only is he a great friend, he is also a great mentor" After years of assisting, Ernie has sights on becoming a full time colorist and hopes to work on his own projects very soon.

Joining the MTI team in 2019, Estuardo began his career in post as a Dailies Operator, working on episodic shows such as Ratched, Pose, Kidding, and more. The variety of projects allowed him to hone his technical skills, while learning to color during his free time. After working his way up to his current role as Dailies Colorist, under the mentorship of Carl Braz, he’s now worked on projects such as 9-1-1 & 9-1-1: Lonestar. His ability to problem solve at a moments notice has allowed him to thrive in the Dailies Department overall.

Supervising Editor Garth O'Donnell has been editing for over 25 years with experience on virtually every editing platform invented. Garth's credits span many commercial spots, having been a Henry and Smoke artist at RIOT Santa Monica, and scores of TV episodic shows, working on everything from linear edit systems to Avid, Final Cut, Smoke, and Flame. Garth's experience and cool demeanor in the edit suite has earned him a considerable following and the nickname “The Iceman”. But don't let that name fool you, he's a warm, intelligent editor with a good sense of humor.

Gracie Simmonds is a writer, director, and improvisor who moved to Los Angeles from Missouri where she got her start in television by writing and performing on the Midwest’s only late night talk show: The Mystery Hour. She graduated from UCLA with a certificate in Directing, and studied comedy at UCB and the Groundlings School. In her free time, you can find her hanging out with her precious cat, Goose, hiking, and enjoying the only fast food in the world that matters: Taco Bell.

John Mertus has been associated with MTI Films from the very beginning when he work as a consulting programmer and later worked half time splitting his time with his position as Professor of Research at Brown University. His main focus has been on high-speed image algorithms, introducing newer technologies and methods, and software design. He was the initial software architect of CORTEX. Starting 2016, he has been a full time member of the MTI focusing mainly on DRS Nova and helped develope, and is constantly improving, such algorithms, as Deflicker and Motion.

Julia Goldscher

Julia Goldscher has been here at MTI for seven years. She emigrated from England at the age of 11, and yes, she loves her tea more than anything. She started working in the Entertainment Industry in 1994 at Encore, as a vfx coordinator. She quickly moved up to become a vfx producer. A few years later, when offered a position at Technicolor to become a Digital Intermediate producer, when Digital Intermediates were just being introduced to the industry, she jumped at the chance. She loved working on the high budget movies, the low budgets were good too. Julia then made the move here to MTI, to join our family as a Producer, which she loves. On the weekends she loves long rides on her bike and competing in Triathlon races. Yes, she's even completed two 70.3 (half IronMan) races. Now, back to work!

After years of doing color for dailies, Julio has come into his own as a colorist for mainstream episodic programming. Doing final color this year for 911 and 911 Lonestar has provided Julio to demonstrate that the years spent in the dailies chair has paid off for the clients who’ve entrusted their footage to him. “I’m glad to have had the time spent doing dailies. Considering the scores of shows I worked on, each with their own look, and working with a variety of great DPs, I feel very comfortable doing final color for the shows I’m working on.”

Kevin Manbeck

Dr. Kevin Manbeck, CTO, joined MTI in 1992. He holds a Ph.D. and a Sc.M. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Grinnell College. At MTI, Dr. Manbeck has played a leading role in designing and developing the company's machine vision and film image processing technologies and applications. Prior to joining the Company, Dr. Manbeck served for two years as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics at Brown University. Dr. Manbeck has authored numerous academic works on applied mathematics for publication including Mathematical Modeling, Proceedings of Computers in Cardiology, IEEE Computer Society, Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics, IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, The Journal of Urology, Markov Random Fields, Theory and Application, Chellappa and Jain, and Academic Press.

I started in post production in 1999 at Encore Hollywood in client services and after a few months or so, I moved into the visual effects department as a coordinator under the wings of Barbara Marshall. Through the years I worked as a coordinator/scheduler, biller, producer and my main role being a mom to my two sons. Being able to be there for sons has always been my number one priority. But, don't get me wrong, my position here at MTI Film as Billing Manager is very important to me as well. Any billing questions or concerns, I am just a phone call or email away.

Editor Kyle Gleisner began his tenure at MTI managing the tape vault. Thereafter he was trained as a technical assistant in the machine room and eventually worked his way up to a trusted editor position. As an Avid, Premier, Flame, and After Effects artist he has worked on episodic shows such as The Politician, Outcast, Limitless and Breakthrough, as well as music videos and commercial projects. His willingness to jump into a project feet first has earned him a reputation as a versatile and discerning editor, while those who work with him take to his lighthearted character.

Larry Chernoff

Beginning his career as a film editor in New York City, Larry Chernoff has since helped to found and lead many post production companies around Los Angeles, including FilmCore, Encore and RIOT. He went on to become President of 4MC, later Ascent Media Group Creative Services, including its Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, and London operations. In 2017, the HPA honored him with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Larry brought this history and expertise to MTI Film, first as a Board Member in 2003 and then as CEO since 2005. Larry's vision and experience has helped keep MTI Film's flagship products, DRS™ NOVA & CORTEX on the cutting edge of post-production technology and has been the driving force behind MTI Film's fully file-based workflow.

Mauricio has recently moved into film scanning for the film restoration department, using his film skilss from the pre digital days. Since 2006, Mauricio had been working closely with DPs on numerous TV episodic shows coloring their dailies. “I loved the variety that dailies TV work had on a daily basis. Switching from one show to the other during is challenging, but it gave me a great foundation upon which to build my color skills”. In 2018 Mauricio made the leap to final color assisting Steve Porter by doing pre-color on many of the shows on Steve’s schedule.

Born and raised in Israel, Ofer Served in the Israeli Air Force as an instructor. After graduating with a BSc in Computer Engineering in the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, Ofer was hired at Motorola Communications Israel. Three years later, Ofer moved to the US, and was hired at Modern Videofilm Hollywood to build the first Computerised test system for the VHS dubbing facility. After completing the Avid Certified Support Representative Certificate (ACSR), Ofer specialized in supporting the editorial staff in post production. In his spare time, Ofer has been raising four children with his wife Debi.

Peter Firth joined MTI Film in 2007 as a Software Engineer to work on MTI’s CORTEX application. He has been instrumental in the technical growth of MTI's transcoding capabilities, including major contributions to the CORTEX family of products since its introduction. Today he is Lead Software Engineer for CORTEX, MTI Film's solution for dailies, IMFs, DCPs, Dead Pixel Correction, and beyond.

Randy joined the company in 2015 having been a development engineer at Encore Hollywood, Chief Engineer at RIOT Santa Monica, Chief Cinemascan Engineer at EFilm where he developed the Cinemascan system, and Product Manager for workflow systems at Panavision. He brings a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of imaging technology and dailies workflows, which makes him uniquely qualified to lead the effort for MTI Film's products.

As Supervising Colorist at MTI Film, Steve's credits are too lengthy to list having been a well-respected colorist at Encore Hollywood and RIOT Santa Monica since 1989. Steve has worked on a number of high-profile projects and received numerous industry accolades including those for Showtime's Weeds, which won the Emmy for Cinematography, and HBO's miniseries The Pacific, which was nominated for a Cinematography Emmy and was honored with the Hollywood Post Alliance Award for Outstanding Color Grading. Steve's guidance on color at MTI starts with his personal supervision and training of the dailies team, setting a high bar of artistry that is the envy of the industry.

Tanner Buschman

Senior Colorist Tanner Buschman has worked his way up the ladder of MTI Film's color team by working hard and proving himself over and over again. Demonstrating a true passion for what he does, Tanner has reached new heights of expertise by applying his talents to each project he works on. Tanner's color on Ratched, Hollywood, American Horror Stories, The Politician, as well as restoring many Sony features has provided the diversity of work needed to gain "chops on the box” and refining his eye. Often coloring on weekends on his own time,Tanner has demonstrated his commitment to be the best he can be, which has paid off with his latest work on Long Slow Exhale and This Fool.

Valerie graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in Psychology in 2021, she is married and lives with her husband in Silverlake Los Angeles. She found the opportunity to apply for a position as a Vault Clerk at MTI Film and was hired in August in 2021. Her main role as a Vault Clerk was managing and tracking physical assets that come in and out of the facility. She expressed that it was essential to be professional, courteous and to provide excellent customer service with Clients and Courier Messengers that arrive at MTI. Within one year she was then offered the opportunity to become the Restoration Coordinator for MTI's Restoration Department, she has since been learning from some of the very best and experienced Producers from MTI Film in the Restoration Department and Post Production Department as well.

After completing this project, he has gotten to work on many big name titles and has progressed his career through many avenues of post such as data management, film inspection, film scanning, mastering, data i/o, etc. While being a jack-of-all-trades, he brings to MTI his expertise in film restoration and his fine eye for detail.

Wendi Smith-Harris got her start in Scheduling & Operations in the 90's at Hollywood's top Post houses Editel and Encore. After taking some time out to raise her family, Wendi jumped back into the post world with the MTI family in 2019. She quickly realized how much she enjoys the "Tetris" game of scheduling, " Even though I have a small role in the process, there's a certain satisfaction in being handed these puzzle pieces and making them fit to help our clients make the best product/show possible."
