In addition to the artistry of its staff, MTI can customize algorithm development to projects when needed.
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Lawrence of Arabia (1962) - Being honored with a spot on the hand-picked restoration team for this classic film, MTI Film was tasked with repairing the damage on this film. Chemical stains, roller rubs and persistent scratches were present throughout and created an opportunity to "think outside of the box" and develop individualized techniques. Some of the issues were due to a 50 year old negative, but others were issues that were never seen until this was scanned in 8K. Our software engineers developed unique algorithms, specifically designed to deal with the issues without altering the desert landscape. The fully-restored Director's Cut premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, after winning the Best Archive Restoration/Preservation Title at the 10th Annual FOCAL Awards in 2013.

Taxi Driver (1976)
Taxi Driver (1976)
"Are you talkin' to me?" The movie begins with the taxi slowly driving down the street and through steam coming up from a manhole as the credits fade in and out of the clouds of steam. This opening title sequence alone took approx. 120 hours to perfect due to the amount of dirt, scratches and warping. Usually we'll receive final approval on a restoration from the studio. But with this title, the pressure was turned up on MTI's Restoration Department. We were informed Mr. Scorsese, being a huge supporter of film restoration and preservation, was going to review the restoration and final approval would be coming from the director himself. One of Martin Scorsese's cinematic gems!
The Godfather Part II (1974)
The Godfather Part II (1974)
The Godfather II (1974) - The second installment of the Godfather trilogy. In the quintessential style of Francis Ford Coppola, this film consists of numerous dissolves. Pollock (2000)
Pollock (2000)
In August of 1949, Life Magazine ran a banner headline that begged the question: "Jackson Pollock: Is he the greatest living painter in the United States?" The film is a look back into the life of an extraordinary man, a man who has fittingly been called "an artist dedicated to concealment, a celebrity who nobody knew." As he struggled with self-doubt, engaging in a lonely tug-of-war between needing to express himself and wanting to shut the world out, Pollock began a downward spiral. Restoration and Color Correction over sight at MTI FILM by director Ed Harris.
Funny Girl (1968)
Funny Girl (1968)
Directed by William Wyler and needless to say, starring Barbra Streisand and Omar Sharif. The restoration of this picture put every tool in our software to its test. Heavy flicker and color breathing, scratches, tears, stabilization and warping were throughout and all were addressed by the MTI restoration team. This was a very popular title with all of the artists in the department and it became our "passion project". That passion shone through in the end, resulting in an absolutely brilliant restoration that was the featured title at the opening of the TCM Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2013. Ms. Streisand, who was present at the screening, was so impressed by the restoration, she requested a copy of the film for her personal collection.
The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
